Our Story
The vision of Connection Church began in 2005. As Stephen Walters was driving through Suwanee, he noticed several people gathering around the Town Center greenspace at the intersection of Buford Hwy and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. At that time, God began to plant a desire in Stephen's heart for the community of Suwanee.
Over the course of the next three years, Stephen and his wife Rebekah began to notice the great community feel that Suwanee has. It is considered a top ten American city to live in on many published lists. However, despite all the growth of the past two decades, and the projected growth of the future, there are thousands of people that have not found a place to connect with and worship God. Despite the great community feel of Suwanee, there is a need for a community of God that allows people to connect to Him.
Thus, Stephen expressed this need to the leadership of the North Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. After looking at the demographics and needs of Suwanee, they agreed that a new church was a necessity to reach people for Christ. In June of 2008, Stephen and Rebekah were appointed to start the new church, Connection Church, in Suwanee.
We are excited about what God will do through Connection Church in the Suwanee area!
